Top 20 on Google search!

This is crazy!  Some time ago I had a post that included a Decepticons Logo. That one, solitary post has put me in the top 20 for Google image searches!

Don’t believe me- check for yourself! Just Google: “decepticons logo” in Google images, and there I am- usually third row, third from the left (this may vary due to your screen size).

At any rate; thanks for reading or following or just plain amusing me. Cheers!

Fear-Mongers

A student I know wrote me today,

“Your not going to beleive this but my teacher told us to wear hospital mast (mask) to keep from getting swine flu! He freaked alot of people out!!”

I ask one question:

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON?

A very good friend and mentor of mine said that 2,500 people had died from Swine Flu.

WRONG!

Swine Flu death toll: 7*

Really? We have got to put a stop to this fear-mongering! Teachers telling students to go out and get hospital masks!?

Here are some facts for you to chew on:

There has been one death in the United States- a Mexican boy that was visiting the country.

As of 11 AM ET today, April 29, 2009, the CDC has reported only 91 laboratory confirmed cases of Swine Flu in the U.S.

Remember Bird Flu? In 2003-2004 the world went nuts and the sky was falling because thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people were going to die from Avian Influenza A (H5N1).

Here’s your WORLD totals to date:

Cases: 421

Deaths: 257^

Am I saying we shouldn’t be cautious? No. But this fear-mongering has to STOP!

What you can do:

-Write your local news station or newspaper and tell them to stop reporting hype, and just the facts. Or just kill your TV.

-Spread the truth. Tell everyone you know about the truth behind the hype. Talk with your family and friends especially.

-Laugh!

Swineflu (un)Tips

Today, and maybe for the next few days, I’m offering “tips” for swineflu.*

Follow them on Twitter or on Facebook. Laugh. Often.

*For those that have been effected by swineflu, directly or indirectly, my prayers are for your full, healthy recovery. Any and all “tips” are just my opinion and are meant to be humorous and in no way reflect the opinion of anyone else but me. Please do not take seriously any of these swineflu “tips”, and consult your health care professional with questions- not me. Thanks!

Earth Day SUCKS!

Thanks for getting past the screaming headline and actually hearing me out.

Today is my birthday. (Have you had your “ah-ha” moment yet? No?- Keep reading.)

I know- about 20 million people on the planet have today as their birthday as well- so what am I whining about?

Do you remember being in elementary school? (say yes) And that when it was someone’s birthday they brought goodies and the entire class had a party in their honor? (say yes) And that those parties were always in the afternoon so you could go outside and play after the goodies and singing? (say yes) (“Ah-ha”? No?- keep going.)

That’s what everyone remembers.

Not me.

Yes- we had “my party”. Yes- there were goodies. Yes- we all sang. Then we went to a stupid assembly about earth day.

No playing. No running. No being an automatic captain for kickball. No fun. Happy BEARTHDAY. Wa. Hoo.

So- that’s why earth day SUCKS! (Seriously- if you haven’t had your “ah-ha” moment yet, ask the person nearest you to slap you ‘cross that back of your head!)

It also SUCKS because people only really care one day a year. Instead of everyday. I’ll venture to guess that the one day of “green living” (eg- biking instead of driving) actually NEGATIVELY effects the environment because now everyone didn’t run the errands they needed to, so everyone doubles up tomorrow, and boom, the carbon footprint for April 23rd is not twice as much as April 21st, but more like 3-4 times as much.

Think about it. (A 2nd “ah-ha” moment possibly?)

Happy Birthday to: St. Francis of Assisi; Julius Sterling Morton (founder of Arbor Day); Jack Nicholson (the actor); & Isabella I, of Castile, (Queen of Spain, 1479-1504, patron of Columbus- yes, THAT Columbus)- just to name a few.

On Susan Boyle…

If you haven’t seen THE performance, please do so now:

I won’t take the time to say what’s already been said by Pete Wilson on his blog (all of which I couldn’t agree more with).

I’ve written countless Susan Boyles off. And what’s done is done. The only question left for me: “What will I do when I encounter my next Susan Boyle?”

How about you?

So… What should I name it? I’m looking for a great domain name and need some idea-age. Send ‘em in peeps!

Jobs…galore

I just ran across an interesting article from Time, entitled “The 150 Best Recession-Proof Jobs Overall“. Check it out. I dare you.

Question: Now that you’ve read the article, do you really think that there aren’t any jobs out there?

Answer: No.

There are jobs out there, they just don’t make you a rock star. Too bad.

Let me highlight just an example:

#103 Podiatrists                         Avg Salary: $108,220       Openings: 648

#104 Teacher Assistants Avg Salary: $20,740 Openings: 193,986

Hmmmmm. I’m thinking, just looking at the numbers, there are more jobs out there than anyone- and I mean anyone- is letting on. WAKE UP!

About to be a ‘rent…

My HOT wife and I are about to be parents for the first time.

No. We don’t know what we’re having.

Strike that- we know we’re having a baby. Beyond that, the sidewalk ends.

Since we’re due April 7th I figured now would be a good time to start asking for some thoughts on parenting.

Whattya got?

Back…… kinda. yes.

WordPress still enrages me with posting Vimeo content on here. Can’t figure it out. Want to, but can’t. (Any ideas?)

So the other blog (my.other.blog) is still going. So is this one.

To state the obvious: Changed the look. Added Twitter feed. Added Flickr feed. Added Cloud Tag. Anything else you wanna see?

Glad to be back. Hoping to post more regularly.
